With Mondain and Minax defeated, the land once again returned to peace. The ideas of Lord British began to reach even the most distant of city-states. It appeared that Sosaria might actually get the peace which had awaited it for so long.. That is until Exodus reared its head.
 

The prodigal creation of Mondain and Minax was neither man nor machine. A spawn from technology of the future, Exodus, like Minax plotted revenge against the entire land for defeating its creators. Again, fearing the lives of his subjects, and that of the entire planet, Lord British called for the Stranger to return yet again.

Exodus impersonates Hulk Hogan.

As he had done twice before, the Stranger arrived and saved the land from the evil which plagued it. By this time, he has become somewhat of a celebrity, and Lord British's popularity spread as well. The city-states finally decided to unite under Lord British, and Sosaria as a whole became a new world, Britannia.

The first three Ultima games are referred to as The Age of Darkness. The defeat of Exodus closed the age of darkness and ushered in The Age of Enlightenment. The first three games are generally forgotten about, and not much information is available about them. The gratuitous use of time travel, cyborgs, and phasers among other things is considered a detriment to the storyline. The majority of players consider Ultima 4 to be the "real" beginning to the Ultima series.
