Just Cause 2
Submitted Friday, April 30, 2010 - 7:23:49 PM by Klaitu

Just Cause.. the joke is apparent. Does it mean "Just Because" or "My cause is just"?

Just Cause is what happens when you are a nearly invincible latino with a magical parachute harness that can produce parachute after parachute.

It's sort of like if Saint's Row 2 and Merenaries had a baby. It's open world gameplay where your mission is basically to obliterate anything that moves.. and that's okay, because you are pretty much invincible to everything except being hit by a rocket.

The game is a moderate amount of fun, but you're not playing for the story. There's not much of one here. This would be an alright game to play during those months when no new games come out.

Rent It.

Clash of the Titans

Clash of the Titans.. in 3D!

Speaking of 3D, all films are in 3D.. length, width, and time... so technically I saw Clash of the Titans in 4D!

Clash of the Titans is the story of Perseus, who is the son of Zeus on a mission to kill Hades, but first he's got to travel through several CGI lands and kill some CGI monsters.

Overall the adventure is pretty mild, and the end is seen coming a mile away. It's an okay popcorn movie, but don't expect much out of it.

Borderlands

Do you enjoy wandering around aimlessly?

Do you enjoy constantly picking new things up, only to discover that your old things were shinier?

Do you enjoy wasting your time?

Then Borderlands may be the game for you!

Borderlands is pretty much what would happen if Fallout and World of Wrcraft had a baby. It's a MMORPG, except with only 4 players, where you will spend hours upon hours shooting the same 5 enemies ad nauseum.

Do you like grinding? Do you like collecting useless items that you then sell for pretend money? Because that's all this game is.

No story, no innovation, no real reason to play it.

Pass.

Today's eHarmony Matches
Submitted Tuesday, April 13, 2010 - 12:40:52 PM by Klaitu

Just so you guys know what I'm dealing with here, these are the eHarmony match results for today, specifically what they listed they were "most passionate about":

- Sports, travel
- Pets, Dogs
- Horseback Riding, Dogs
- Bowling, Travel
- "life"
- Sports, photography

It's one thing to be a nameless cog in a crowd of women with completely boring and uninteresting passions, but the girl who said "I am passionate about life" deserves the gold star for laziness award.

Mad Men

Mad Men is a show about 1960's advertising executives, and the office in which they work. It doesn't sound terribly interesting, but for some reason that I can't explain.. it is.

The show has won many awards for its historicity and accurate portrayal of 1960's America. Admittedly, the show is an interesting look into the past.

I can't tell you why it's good, it's just good.

Deadwood
Submitted Friday, April 9, 2010 - 3:11:26 PM by Klaitu

You've probably heard about Deadwood, the HBO series about the infamous South Dakota mining town. Before the TV series, the town was most famous for being the place where Wild Bill Hickok was killed.

Deadwood is very much part of the "new style" of television with an almost excruciatingly slow plot, but a lot of detail in the story.. some relevant and some otherwise. It's pretty easy to see how Deadwood influenced TV producers.

I'd like to give you a plot summary, but the best I can do is tell you the show is about Deadwood, South Dakota and the various people who live there.

The show is notorious for the use of profanity, clocking in an average of 1.56 f-bombs per minute. You'd think that sort of thing would be distracting, but all it really does is give you the sense of how unpleasant a place Deadwood is.

Merlin
Submitted Friday, April 9, 2010 - 3:05:56 PM by Klaitu

Merlin is a new TV show on the Syfy Channel this season. It follows the life of.. well.. Merlin. You know, King Arthur's wizard friend?

Don't be fooled though, Merlin is essentially a medieval version of Smallville. Merlin has magical powers that must remain secret, which he uses to defeat the badguy of the week.

However, unlike Smallville, it is not entirely awful. Perhaps the most disconcerting thing is that Guinevere is black. I'm all for racial equality, but being a black person in medieval times? Doesn't seem to work.
