The Principle system of Order, Chaos, and Balance

Order, Balance, and Chaos were developed in Ultima 7 as a plot device for the Serpent Isle.

This Principle system is NOT a traditional system of virtues, and is not derived from the Codex. It is considered to be a somewhat "new age" belief system.

Order
the Principles of Order:
Ethicality: The belief that there is great value in abiding by rules of conduct
Discipline: The drive to complete a task and avoid the distractions that will prevent its completion
Logic: Clear and reasoned thought

Chaos
the Principles of Chaos:
Tolerance: That which encourages the acceptance of all things
Enthusiasm: The energy that allows one to perform tasks
Emotion: The ability to perceive those feelings that come from the heart

Balance
the Principles of Balance:
Harmony: The ability to be at peace with oneself, other individuals and the world
Formed by: Tolerance and Ethicality
Dedication: That which permits one to surmount obstacles and lead others
Formed by: Enthusiasm and Discipline
Reality: The ability to comprehend life and understand the world
Formed by: Emotion and Logic

These Three Principle systems are inseperable, as they are together part of the same system. The Principles of Order do not exist without the Principles of Chaos. The reverse is also true. The Principles form together to form Balance, without both Chaos and Order, there can only be imbalance.

Tolerance without Ethicality: Anarchy
Emotion without Logic: Insanity
Enthusiasm without Discipline: Wantonness
Ethicality without Tolerance: Prejudice
Discipline without Enthusiasm: Apathy
Logic without Emotion: Ruthlesness
