Jakob was a knight in KET. Eventually, Jakob was commissioned to form the Highland Guard and was given the rank of Commander. Jakob was made General about a year after HG was formed. He was risen to the rank of Marquis a year after.

Minoc began as a kingdom ruled by King Bruce. Thomas Jacob Covenant was bestowed the title of Marquis along with a land grant by King Bruce for his service to the Crown. The station of Marquis of course is a fraternal (male) rank. One bestowed to Jakob’s father Zacariah Covenant also.

Jakob Covenant served as the first Councilor representing the City of Minoc to the High Council of Britannia. He was well known for his views that the government for the people should preserve that which is good and virtuous. A council open and allowing thieves and murders representation he viewed in direct contrast to the good of the people.

As indicated, Jakob Covenant began as a Knight in KET, and was commissioned to form the Highland Guard, posted as commander and achieving later General. After the loss of Nero of Tenebrae, General Covenant was placed as Grand Marshall of the Britannian Armed Forces. For many years the Highland Guard, Yew Militia and Royal Knights of Redemption worked jointly as the BAF. General Covenant retired as commander of the Highland Guards, turning over the ranks to Lt. Papa Palpapa and Atreus Alethinos. A joint decision was made to decommission the Highland Guard. In 384 ALB, Jakob Covenant was award The Knightly Order of Lord British, becoming Sir Jakob Covenant.

During the years the Highland Guard were about Minoc, it thrived. Jakob and the Highland Guard aided the citizenry, drove out hordes of savages, attempted to eradicate the vampires and undead, while participating in festivals, pints at the local tavern and political pursuits. As ever the Highland Guard sought to fulfill their duty, protecting the Countess Lauren with whom the Thane had left the lineage of nobility.

Jakob fathered one child, a son. Daelyn Covenant born of Ariyana Sune, out of wedlock. Justicar Lifestar was hired to prepare the papers stating Daelyn’s legal right to his father’s title, declaring him Jakob’s heir. Daelyn as a young lad was often seen in the company of Guardsman on patrol, roaming Covenant Keep, or with the High Council Chambers.

Sometime after retirement, Jakob sought the peace of a life free of the military; foxhunts, dinners or banquets at his estate. Eventually this lead to him wandering from the realm, the length of time away grew ever longer until it has now been many years since he has been seen with in the realm. His last visit was to bestow Covenant Keep to Milady Gwendolyn Covenant an Aunt. The presumption is that Sir Jakob Covenant has passed from the mortal world. Which is what prompted the court challenge of Daelyn Covenant’s birthright. Which did the High Court of Britannia uphold, and so the legacy lives on.
