Castle British Conquered!

The Britannian Armed Forces failed to repel the Crimson Order's siege of the castle late last night. Two successive waves decimated the BAF troops, their second major defeat in recent history. The pitched battle for several hours, neither side giving its enemy quarter.

The defenders managed to slay Soke Bishimi of the Blue Lotus, which in turn caused Shidoshi Garrett of BL to avenge his leader's death by leading a charge through the BAF lines. Chaos spread into the throne room where the battle was ultimately decided.

Once her victory was secured, Nosfentor began to move in immediately. When asked why she set her sights on the castle, she grinned wickedly and said she "liked the view... and my horse needs a place to roam.” She also had a message for the BAF and the High Council, "Why continue to fight? You can't win! Just give us your cities, plead loyalty to the Empress of Tokuno, and you will be spared." This is an unlikely course of events for the Council to take.

"They fought valiantly, they did," states Cathleen the castle guard about the BAF. "Held their own, till they broke ranks and allowed the enemy into the castle proper..." The castle guards are currently trying to protect the loitering nobles from harm.

Aelina, a Magincian noble seeking refuge from the rumored demonic invasion, chastised the BAF. "How dare they leave us to succumb to the whims of these ruffians, like they did Cove! I demand to be rescued this instant!" She continued with a diatribe to unseemly to print.

The mood amongst the castle staff is abnormally grim, especially amongst the kitchen staff. Crates of fresh human remains were to be delivered as Nosfentor's preferred source of sustenance. Royal Chef Antonia quit in disgust over the matter, and snuck out of the castle. Sherry the Mouse offered to share the massive stockpile of cheese she acquired over the years with any castle resident in need.

I found a BAF soldier, who would only speak on the promise of anonymity, limping away from the castle after the battle. I asked for his thoughts regarding the defeat, "We have been slacking at our defenses, and can't seem to work together... The leadership isn't taking the ball and leading us in the right direction. Hopefully, they will get off the bottle and help us win..."

When approached, a dejected looking Polynikes, Grand Marshal of the BAF, declined to comment. The Chancellor of the High Council could not be reached for comment.

Evil now sits on the throne of Britannia. The village of Cove serves Tokuno's interests.

Whose side will you be on?

Things Fall to Pieces

A few weeks ago, the forces of the Crimson Order led by the Shadowlord Nosfentor, attacked and conquered the village of Cove. The Britannian Armed Forces waged a valiant, if unsuccessful defense. Since that time, contact with the citizens of Cove has been cut off, as has travel into or out of the city. The hope prevails that the occupation force has not killed the populace outright; however, it is assumed that they are under house arrest at the very least.

The impetus to attack Cove came from the desire to "Protect the people of Cove from the High Council's tyranny, and to show how much we (the Crimson Order) cares about them." said Nosfentor after the city fell, she went on to say "The High Council is a disease ridden group of vile humans," and "They are the downfall of society."

At the last Britannian High Council meeting, a Tokuno man by the name of Bunshichi claimed he was a neutral individual willing to act as the voice of the citizens of Cove for the Council. Essentially, he wanted to take Cove's seat on the High Council. Chancellor Willa initially cited Article II, Part C, Section 2-b of The Fourth Royal Constitution of the Kingdom of Britannia as grounds for denying the Tokuno man's petition.

This led to a heated debate between the Chancellor and the Grand Marshal versus Bunshichi. Woodrow Call, the High Justicar, seemed unwilling to dismiss the man out of hand while Lord DaKaren, the Minister of Virtue, seemed ambivalent towards the request.

In the end, Bunshichi did not get what he wanted, and the Empire of Tokuno was named an Enemy of the State for its unwillingness to contain the band of ninja brigands known as the Blue Lotus. (The Blue Lotus is a military branch of the Empire of Tokuno, and a part of The Crimson Order.) Britannia’s list of hostile political entities grows longer...

A B.A.F. source, who wishes to remain anonymous, claims that Nosfentor hand delivered a box containing severed body parts and a red wizard’s hat to Grand Marshal Polynikes later that same night. Recognizing the hat as that of Justicar Call, a search immediately commenced. The Grand Marshal confirmed this report when interviewed.

The Justicar's whereabouts went unknown, until yesterday. When I heard of the delivery from my source, I immediately sought an interview with Nosfentor. The Shadowlord freely admitted to having abducted Lord Call from his unguarded office in Compassion Grove, and taking him to Cove where he was tortured for information by Soke Bishimi, of the Blue Lotus, before being drawn and quartered. Nosfentor said the Justicar "looked broken and dejected" and "didn't even scream when we cut him up."

I'll spare my readers the grisly details, as I will be hard pressed to cleanse them from my mind. However, Nosfentor did level a warning for the remaining High Council members: "We know where you all are, and none of you are safe unless we deem it..." She also threatened that Britain would be the next target of conquest, "soon my forces will be sitting in Castle British enjoying an ale,"

Dark times lay ahead my friends; Britannia needs the support of its citizens to turn the tide in the fight against the Crimson Order and to retake Cove. To learn more or to join the fight, the High Council of Britannia meets every Monday at 9pm by the eastern skies in the Civic Center in Compassion Grove (14o 4'N 35o 17'W). The Britannian Armed Forces can be reached through any Royal Knights of Redemption (RKR) or Yew Militia (YM) member.

Returned to Duty

Greetings Fellow Britannians!

I am sorry that I have been absent from the pages of the Daily Herald and the Tomes for far too long. My only excuse is that I was given the opportunity to travel to another world on very short notice. It was too extraordinary an invitation to pass up.

I can't divulge too much about the voyage, as those involved were doing it for medical reasons. However, I can say that we journeyed to a world far away in a very bizarre blue box, operated by an eccentric healer and his assistant. We went through a kingdom in the sky run by large surly felines called ‘Killwrathy’ who didn’t seem to like us much.

The lush world we eventually arrived on was called Earth, a technological planet that my companions had been to before. While they tended to their ailing friend, I explored a massive city called New York. Being as my skin is amethyst in hue, I had to wear a disguise. Tragically, Earth is a human world with limited magic, where elves are but mythical fantasy beings.

Now that I have returned, I renew my pledge to bring you news and events from around Sosaria. A great many new books have been added to the Library of Sosaria, many of them donated by the Qu'eller d'Viaxus before they departed our shard. (All donations are gladly accepted; please contact me if you wish to do so!)

In the near future I will bring you stories on the Occupation of Cove, the High Council, and other items of interest.
