From Lore Denin:
Whispering Winds, a small town located on the eastern outskirts of Skara Brae, nestled between western shores and the Fair Grounds, was founded on the Philosophy of Order and the Principles of Virtue espoused by Lord British. This Philosophy has become the lifeblood of the citizens who have diligently supported and pursued Lord British's Quest to Re-unite the Shards of the Multiverse with the True Universe (sometimes referred to as Prime). It is this Quest of Unity, which has subsequently led to conflict between our lands and the "New Order" of Britannia, which we define as the moment Lord British revoked his pledge to the Time Lord and abandoned the Quest of Unity. Our dedication and support of Lord British’s Quest can be traced back 60 years to the founding of the Ankh of Unity, at a time when Lord British ruled from his castle, and sat at the head of the Order. Our beliefs are those of Old Britannia, as it had been before Lord British’s mysterious departure. An ideology we have carried in his absence and in his return. Despite the establishment of the “New Order” and installment of the Ruling Council as the governing body of Britannia it remains the ideology we continue to believe and follow. We have no doubt, The Kingdom of Britannia in which the Ankh was established and later the town of Whispering Winds founded, exists today, in name only. The Principles, which our Lost King championed, have changed drastically upon his mysterious return and sudden departure. No community had so embraced and remained true to the old Philosophies of Lord British and subsequently no community was so completely devastated in wake of the establishment of this “New Order” which stands diametrically opposed to the Quest of Unity. Most of the citizens of Whispering Winds consider themselves Britannians in the truest sense of the word. We are followers of Virtue who have served in the Order, as True Britannians fighting for the Dark Facet, and steadfast members of the Britannia Armed Forces here in Trammel. Breaking from Britannia was never a course we desired and a decision we did not take lightly and made with heavy heart. Yet to remain a part of Britannia was to support the newly returned Lord British whose views stood in stark contrast to the beliefs held by the King whom we had sworn fealty. To support this new course was a betrayal of the very core Britannia was founded. Many of the ideas of the “New Order” were downright Blackthornian in nature. To follow the “reformed” Lord British was to forgo the Quest, and against everything Lord British had stood and all we continue to believe. The Quest had always been to us the highest embodiment of Virtue and defined what was best about Britannia and most virtuous in our King. After weeks of discussion, the citizens of Whispering Winds continued to try to integrate the old ideals into the “New Britannia Order”. Such actions resulted persecution, calls of treason and soon the arrest of their leader, Lore Denin. The final blow was dealt upon learning of Lord British’s plans to forever remove the shards from our plane (A course of action that may have forever ended the hope of the Shardal Union). For the first time, the Whispering Winds moved against their long time King, Lord British and pledged fealty to another, Lore Denin. The newly crowned Lord of Whispering Winds wasted little time, promptly declaring Whispering Winds’ Independent of Britannia and sending a call throughout the known lands for supported of the fledging Kingdom (What would later become known as the Kingdom of Lore). The High Council responded in turn by sending the Britannia Armed Forces to siege the disputed territory and reclaim the land for Britannia. Lore Denin in their eyes was no more then a deluded, self-proclaimed King, a traitor and usurper, who sought nothing more then power for himself. Whispering Winds prepared for siege and battle was met. The forces of Whispering Winds were overmatched by the much larger and superiorly armed Britannian Armed Forces. The Kingdom of Lore was forced to concede the shores but was able to hold the heart of the territory with the protection of its castle and fortresses, support from its allies and the creation of a magical Mythal (a magical barrier). After a year of heavy fighting with no clear resolution to the conflict, a ceasefire was signed that a diplomatic resolution could be reached. That is where we stand today, both sides hopeful a peaceful resolution can be found. No good will come of a continued war between Britannia and The Kingdom of Lore. We are in the end two people of Virtue, those who have come to support the “New Order” and those who remain true to the Old. There are many paths to Virtuous and so I ask, “Are these paths so different so as to justify bloodshed?” Bloodshed and difference have defined the conflict to this point, but keep faith that peace and Virtue, shall define our future. Till All Are One, Lord Denin, Kingdom of Lore A Note from Lore Denin, “There are three sections to this document. 1) The first section outlines the nature and reasons for the conflict between Britannia and The Kingdom of Lore. 2) The second defines a peace wherein the two warring Kingdoms are reunited into one nation. 3) The third proposes a peace that would grant the Kingdom of Lore its Independence from Britannia wherein the two Kingdoms co-exist as allies and neighbors in Virtue.”
