Vail Elected BAC Regent of Trinsic
Submitted Friday, April 27, 2001 - 11:22:56 AM by Nick Seafort

Nick SeafortMore political news from Alazraham:

Hail to you, Britannia!

The BAC has met in emergency session, and has decided that a regent is indeed neccessary. Fortunately for us, Vail was able to attend the meeting and address the committee with his point of view. Among other concerns, he did clear up a few loose issues.

1. Vail has retired, but remains active mayor of Trinsic until the election is complete.
2. Vail assured us that he would operate an election in a timely fashion.

With his intentions announced, Vail became the perfect candidate for Regent. The measure to make Vail regent of Trinsic passed without opposition.

The neccessity of a Regent is something that has been unclear to some as of late. There are those that maintain that Vail is not mayor, they claim that he is a criminal and cannot hold office, or they maintain that he resigned, and therefore shouldnt be mayor anymore. The regenthood makes this point moot, as even if Vail were not mayor, he would still be regent and still have authority to hold the election.

Vail's Regenthood elapses when the next mayor is chosen by election.

Vail also asked me to point out that there can be no election without mayoral candidates, and thus far, nobody has shown an interest. If you wish to be considered for the election, visit http://www.trinsic.uoguilds.com To see if you are eligable to become mayor, take a look at the Trinsic charter at http://www.trinsic.uoguilds.com/charter.htm

Thank you for your time, Britannia

BAC Holds Emergency Session!
Submitted Thursday, April 26, 2001 - 1:21:37 PM by Nick Seafort

Nick SeafortThis information just in from Marquis Alazraham:

Hail Britannia!

As I am sure some of you are aware, a dire situation has arisen in Trinsic. There is question as to the actions of the Former Mayor, and there are questions as to the path Trinsic will follow in the future. These Tensions need to be eased. To this end, I have called an emergency session of the Committee to discuss the issue. Among the issues to be presented is the selection of Regent to the Trinsic District. The Regent would only oversee that a fair and impartial election for mayor takes place in the coming days. As always, the BAC meeting will be open for all to contribute.

The Emergency session will be held in IRC doe to time constraints, and the importance of this issue. Direct your favorite chat software to frws.stratics.com port 6667 channel #BAC. If you are having trouble connecting to IRC, you can get technical support from our friends at http://chat.stratics.com

Thank you for your time,

The Mystery of Raticker
Submitted Monday, April 23, 2001 - 12:39:17 AM by Nick Seafort

Nick SeafortMore from Raticker:

Raticker rose up from the burned ashes which were now his body. Everything was a grey haze, nothing made sense. "Where am I"? asked Rat, but there was no one to hear him.

Looking around he saw the broken Staff. He had found the way to destroy the Staff of Law. And himself. Staring around he did not know what to do. Where shall I go? Who has done this to me? Revenge was what he wanted.

This new world was not real, yet it had the resemblence of the towne he was attempting to dominate. Moving down the cliffside and back onto the road, the haze began to lift and he was able to make out cities, buildings, people!

"Help me!" he cried. But no one turned. It seemed he was invisible to their senses. As a mage, he knew what had happened. He was in the netherworld. Concentrating, he could bring himself in and out of reality....he made a child scream. "Well at least there are some advantages". smirked Rat.

Moving through the towne, Raticker decided to take up residence in the Halls of The Phoenix Library. He would read through volumes, rattle chains, and moan in agony until he could figure out what had gone wrong, and who had interfered with his plans.......

The Cleansing
Submitted Monday, April 23, 2001 - 12:34:42 AM by Nick Seafort

Nick SeafortThis comes to us from White Lotus of TPR:

Pulling her hood over her hair, she glanced at the walls of
nearby buildings. Like bleached bones they glistened in the sun.
Strolling along the cobbled streets, she watches people as they hurried by.
They never looked up and neither right or left. Heads down , they hurried to
their destination.

As her thoughts go back to the days when she first came to Britannia and walked
the streets of this city, she realized things had really changed.

Back then it was a city of marvels.....friendly people..and Honor. Slowly walking up the hill ,
she noticed a bank to her left. Walking thru the open door into the cool and dusty interior,
she saw people inside furtively counting their gold and their eyes shifting to glance at
the others.

Their faces were faces of fear, anxiety and unhappiness. Gathering her cloak around her, she walked
outside. Noticing a woman who seemed to be trying to fade into the shadows of the bank wall, she walked
over and happily said *Hi*. The woman jumped and turned to leave. It seemed as tho she couldn't get away
fast enough. Hustling down the hill and out of sight, she turned and spit.

Her glance fell upon a group standing idly outside of the bank. A small gasp formed on her lips. "Drow,"
she muttered to herself. Dark, shadowy creatures who spoke in a guttarul language. A few words of which she
recognized. Feeling their gaze upon her, she crossed the cobbled street to the park-like area next to a building.

Pretending to be looking thru her basket, she glanced toward the Drow and was astonished to see the man who now was
speaking to them. A shudder of horror ran thru her body. "Vail, the ex Vampire," she exclaimed. Spots of anger
dotted her cheeks. "I know what the problem is now," she hissed. Walking to the shade of the nearest building, she
opened her pack and entoned the age old magic chant that opened a gate home.

As the blue moongate disappeared in front of the tower, she opened the door and ran up the stairs to her room. Sitting
at her desk, she picked up the quill and started to write:

Citizens of Phoienix Rising........Allies ......Friends

How long shall we allow the citizens of Trinsic to be suppressed???

How long shall we sit fat and sassy while they live in Hell???

I have seen with mine own eyes what is happening there.
They live in fear. No hope.......nothing to do......a governement that
cares not....Drow watching their every move.

I purpose that we unite to liberate the people of Trinsic from oppression.
We shall first annihilate the Drow, BDA, and then move on to the government
and any who oppose liberty.

I shall post any and all details of this war on our town board. Now is the
time we all come together in the name of Liberty.

signed,

White Lotus-Honoured Council-Phoenix Rising

Laying down the quill and stretching her fingers, Lotus sighs and says to the walls,
"Again we war but this time to liberate others." Pushing her chair away from the desk,
she walks to her bed and falls across it carelessly. Thoughts of preparation run rapidly
thru her mind as her eyes close and her breathing slows.

Long Live Phoenix Rising......

Kullin Resigns Trinsic Post
Submitted Sunday, April 22, 2001 - 4:32:03 PM by Nick Seafort

Nick SeafortThe following statement was sent to Trinsic by messenger to the local town government:

Dear Members of the Council,

It is with extreme regret that I must now officially tender my resignation as minister of Defense of Trinsic. I am sure that there is more then enough candidates to take over my position, if not already. I make this statement only to express my deepest hopes for Trinsic's prosperity.

I had heard recently that Trinsic had seceeded from the Lost King's rule and has declared itself independant. In this action, I am torn, for I still hold much loyalty to our missing Monarch, yet can understand the actions of Trinsic seeking to find leadership elsewhere. The Ether forsees great conflict from this action, one that will most lead to violence. Already the Cult of the Black Dragon declares a holy Jihad on the city, seeking to burn the city to the ground. Other guilds still loyal to the crown plan and scheme to uproot this city for its supposed "treason"

The spirits forsee that before this crisis is done, many souls will perish in the cause of war. Ki declares the logic of the actions of Trinsic, and the wisdom of ruling themselves. Hai holds great bitterness for Trinsic, for he feels that the city has betrayed the trust of many. Pah welcomes the city, for it has sought to free itself from the burden of mediocrity and seeking a new path. And Lau is undecided, siting that there is common sense in rulership under a king, and seeking their own way of rule.

As Lord of Ether, I have been instructed to step aside, and pray for both sides of this conflict to seek the way of peace. Much is to be gained by this, and perhaps something noble and good will come from this path that Trinsic has chosen. Until then, let the Ether swirl where it may.

Ku Kullin
Lord of Ether, E.C

Raticker and the Staff of Law
Submitted Sunday, April 22, 2001 - 4:29:50 PM by Nick Seafort

Nick SeafortThis information from Raticker:

The afternoon had a thick haze which hung like spider webs through the autumm afternoon. Ratiker was in a mood. He had just brought a powerful artifact into Sosaria, but there were no plans from the Cult to use it yet. Well Rat hated waiting. It was time show the citizens of some virtuous towne the ways of B-D, so he flipped open his rune book and picked the one towne who deserved the influence of the Cult of the Black Dragon the most.

Opening a gate to the towne of The Phoenix Rising, Ratiker had found the perfect victims for his first test of the Staff of Law. As before, he was behind the main fort, but this time he slipped up the road to the mountain just behind the city. Moving over a cliff which over looked the city he raised the staff towards the sky and repeated the words of power to invoke his spell.

Thunder rolled through the swamplands to the south, the sun was blocked out as the winds began to drive livestock into a frenzy. Raticker began to laugh uncontrollably as he pulled more and more energy through the staff. He would bring a Winter down upon this town, the likes of which no one had ever seen before!

Lightning struck, rain poured, thunder rumbled through the unsuspecting towne. The citizens ran for cover as more and more rain fell from the sky. Raticker was mad with power, pure energy swam through his body, as the last of his will was being pushed through the staff, something happened....

"STOP"!

"What"? cried Raticker. "Who are you? Noooooo"!

Raticker fell......

The Discovery (Conclusion)
Submitted Thursday, April 19, 2001 - 11:20:35 AM by Nick Seafort

Nick SeafortThe moonless night was crisp and clear in the land of Felucca. Raticker paced the floor of the comfortable and cool halls in the Temple of the Cult of the Black Dragon. 'Waiting is the hardest part'. thought Rat as he awaited for the response to his pigeons. Two other enforces would be present and members of the Dark Paladins would also join the small band set to travel into the realm of the Trammelites. Rat stopped as he heard hooves approaching the temple's main gate. 'This was it'. he grinned.
Eowen and William arrived first along with Borimor and Fire. This should be plenty to capture the innocent one and bring her to the ceremony. After all, who would truly oppose the power of BD?
"Well let's get this thing going mage", chirpped William in his gruff and imposing tones. "We have much to do tonite".
"Your lack of patience will be your downfall, young enforcer".
"Aye, but not tonite".
Rat was ready to get on with it anyway, so without delay he opened a passage to the moongate which would transport them to the 'Virtuous Lands'.
The blue gate opened behind the meeting hall in the city of The Phoenix Rising. With the amount of armour and horses, Raticker new the kidnapping would have to be quick and efficient. Peering around the corner of the wooden building he eyed several citizens doing the last of the daily chores. As expected the citizens of this lazy towne would not anticipate such a subtle attack on their laid back lifestyles. "All to easy..." Rat whispered to his fellows.
After a couple of minutes, the young and fiersome Pepper appeared outside the main doors. She would be perfect. Though not the innocense of a virgin, she would do for the purposes of tonite.
"Take her!" exclaimed Raticker. Moving with the precision of trained warriors Eowen moved to block the girl before she could bolt, while Fire placed the shackles around her waist and wrists. William grabbed her spellbook before she could attempt any type of escape.
"Nice of you to join us my dear...." said Raticker.
"What is this? You dare approach a member of the TPR? cried Pepper.
"We dare much my innocent one". replied Rat coolly.
"You will not get away with this vile creatures!"
" Ah but we already have!" Rat opened a gate as William yanked the girl into the corridor which delivered them to Felucca and the Temple.
Once inside the members of BD began to methodically prepare for the ceremony around a large pentagram in the main hall. Eowen opened the tome which held the formula for the creation of the Staff of Law. Calling off the ingredients, all was placed as directed. Upon the grinding of the Black Pearl, the distribution of vials of blood, the incorporation of the powers of earth, wind, fire, and sea - all was finally in place.
Stripped down to nothing, Pepper whimpered as she was led to the center of the Pentagram. Her haggard look and wild eyes betrayed her stanch indignation of not 30 minutes before. "Not so sure of ourselves are we my dear?" jeered Eowen.
All was set. Raticker began the incantation which invoked the dark forces of Felucca, calling down the eternal powers of the Universe in an arcane language long forgotten, a bluish mist clouded through the temple. Lightning cascaded from the sky, lighting all areas of the temple. In a heated rush of ecstatic energy, Raticker yelled, "KILL HER"! In a frenzy of blind emotion, the members of BD cut down Pepper and smeared her blood along the shaft of the staff.
When it was done, Raticker pulled himself up from the bloody heap and grabbed the pulsating staff. Turning to his brethern he yelled:
"Behold! The Staff of Law lives"!

The Discovery Part II & III
Submitted Wednesday, April 18, 2001 - 12:24:21 PM by Nick Seafort

Nick SeafortThis from Thierwyn the mage:

The day was quite nice, sunny and warm. Raticker stopped by River's
End to visit with girls dancing around in scantilly dressed attire - and
then it was off to visit The Town of Phoenix Rising. The mis-guided souls of
this towne would need some education, however this was not the place or
time. After lunch with a few citizens, it was time to gather the items
necessary to have the Staff of Law completed by the weekend.

Travelling back to Felluca, Rat stopped by the Sandlewood Tavern to go
over some notes and his checklist. Of course the typical riff raff was
about, but the urgency of the mission could not be diverted by such common
folk. Moving to the far corner by an open window, Rat opened the tattered
book and pulled out some parchment paper and scrolls. After about 20 minutes
all eyes in the tavern turned towards the open window.

Dark clouds had turned the afternoon light into a sickly grey, and an
eerie blue mist gathered around the tavern, seeping in through floorboards
and doors. Loud screams could be heard from upstairs as half dressed humans
and drow raced for the front door.
Otherwise brave and honorable warriors began shrieking as the strange mist
climbed into their nostrils and projected images of unspeakable horror in
their dullard minds. Eyes bulging with fear, even the innkeeper ran for the
safety of the forbidden forest!

"Finally some peace", thought Raticker as he looked down and saw his
checklist was almost complete. All which was needed now was a blue staff,
and the head of an innocent pure of heart....

The Discovery Part III

After a long day of researching the internal organs of animals and the
anatomy of dragons, Raticker heard the pigeon bell go off. Putting his shirt
back on, Rat climbs the steps to his dis-organized but spacious house. Never
liking clutter, the furniture was sparce in his three story home near Minoc.
Not being a Trammelite never bothered Raticker, though he was not the
crotchety old veteran of the dead lands, he did miss the colorful
countryside.

The pigeon was from a new friend to the Cult of the Black Dragon,
Eowen. Rat had not had much interaction with this person, however Eowen
claimed to have a blue staff which fit the description needed for the
artifact he was working on. If she turned out to be wasting his time, well
he also had a poisoned knife.....

The note stated she was in the town of Nu'jelm, torturing the inmates
at the new jails. Well this sounded like fun at least. Preparing himself for
travel, Raticker grabbed a couple extra Cure
potions. One could not be to careful these days. Opening a moongate, Rat
decided to also show Eowen a copy of the formula which he had transcribed
the previous nite. The city was quite as usual, which was nice considering
the business which was being conducted. Eowen was no fool.

As expected, she was torturing inmates. Well she seemed to have a raw
talent for it. Perhaps future lessons could be shared between them. Her
ability to extract high pitched screams from the males was incredible!
Grabbing a hot iron, Raticker made his was towards the female.

"Come any closer and I will kill you." Eowen stated matter of factly.
Raticker stopped. Slowly she turned around with a deep desire in her eyes
which was not quite sexual, but just as intense. Raticker opened his hands
dropping the hot iron and prepared to paralyze the women, and kill her if
necessary. The form which she held in her left had toppled to the ground
with a grunt.

"Raticker! Glad to see you. Have been playing with the locals. I
love this town. Lord British cant even afford to staff the local militia
properly." Eowen stepped forward and pulled a rag to clean the blood
dripping from her hands. "You stated you have something for me?" Rat said.
He was never one for small talk, and his nerves had been on edge for the
past weeks working on this project.

"HaHa, not one for courtesy are we? No matter, I like that in a
man." Eowen went to her horse and pulled out a rune. "Here mage, open a gate
to this and we can pick up your toy." Raticker did as he was asked, but was
not happy with the way Eowen said 'toy'. After walking into the gate, Rat
handed the book to Eowen for inspection. "Read this, and you may not
consider what I am working on a toy". Eowens eyes went wide, could this be
true? Had the Cult discovered a way to control weather patterns? This was
interesting indeed. Eowen eyed Raticker and went to a locked chest.

Pulling out the bluish staff, Eowen turned to Raticker and stated.
"Here, you ruin this and I expect it replaced. If you are successful you may
keep it." Raticker accepted the staff with shaking hands. Finally, all the
elements were coming together. The only major step left was the sacrifice.
Raticker turned to Eowen and said, "Perhaps you know of an innocent in our
community whose sacrifice and dis-memberment could satisfy the last
requirement of the formula?" Eowen replied, "Perhaps I do.....we will need
the assistance of the Cult of course."

"I am sure the talents of William, Fire, Duran and others can be
utilized" said Raticker. Both started laughing uncontrollably.....

Something afoot in Trinsic?
Submitted Tuesday, April 17, 2001 - 2:27:16 PM by Nick Seafort

Nick SeafortThe Latest Happenings sent to us by one Kronos the Historian:

The setting sun cast an eerie red glow over the city of Trinsic as Elthanas and Lord Caleb of BDA stood at the edge of the Trinsic Pier. The city was quiet, and they could feel the eyes of the citizens upon them from their homes as they waited in silence.

The evening had begun like any other, patrolling the streets of Trinsic in support of the new council, and a renewed BDA interest in the area. The city was being contested on all sides, and it would take a miracle to untie those fighting into one force; one side; for Trinsic and the for the people. It was two guardsmen who approached them at the bank to tell them the first news of the evening. The shrines of Sacrifice and Valor could be seen burning in the distance. An unnatural fire, both guards had said, with a blue flame. More reports of burning shrines began to come as the evening had worn on. Soon it had been confirmed that all 9 shrines were burning with the same blue flame. Needless to say, both Elthanas and Lord Caleb had grown suspicious, and perhaps even a little nervous. Shortly after the news of the burning of the shrines had reached them, even more troubling news came to their ears. One of their spies had heard word from some fisherman, who had been working their nets just off the coast of Buccaneer's Den, that a fleet of white winged ships was making it's way toward Trinsic Bay.

So the Drow found themselves at the edge of the pier that night, watching the tops of the waves as the first of the ships appeared over the horizon. Elthanas was about to signal for the rest of BDA to join them, when Lord Caleb put a staying hand on Elthanas' arm.

Nine ships appeared over the horizon, moving swiftly toward the harbor. In the lead was a smaller ship, not nearly as glorious as the other eight which followed behind. Upon reaching the harbor, the smaller ship docked at the pier where Elthanas and Lord Caleb stood in awe, while the other eight ships formed a ring around the Bay. A gangplank fell from the small ship, and a hulking figure stepped from the boat.

Dressed in leather armor, plate arms, and a plate helm, the figure moved lithely toward the two Drow. Elthanas could tell by the way the man carried a massive two handed axe in one hand that the man was Draconian. And he had only known one living Draconian all of his life. And that Draconian had been killed on Fire Island in an attempt to recover the heart of the slain Sewell. Elthanas could only watch open mouthed as the figure approached, and fell to one knee in front of his Jabbuk.

"Lord Caleb," the booming voice echoed through the night, "I am once again in your service."

As the ships pulled away from the harbor and sped away into the night, the figure stood and faced Lord Caleb, who took the Draconian's hand in his and shook it heartily.

"Vendui' Gwydion," he grinned cunningly from ear to ear, "It is good to see you again."

Alazraham, BAC back on their feet
Submitted Tuesday, April 17, 2001 - 2:09:13 PM by Nick Seafort

Nick SeafortEarlier today, the Britannian Affairs Committee held a press conference to announce the return of Marquis Alazraham. It seems he has finally recovered from his ordeal. Here are his own words:

Hail, people of Britannia!

Some of you might have heard of my health trouble as of late. Indeed, I did go through a rough spell, but none bothered me as much as the BAC's inactivity. I sincerely apologize to the citizens of Britannia for failing in my duties, and I vow to remedy the situation as best I can.

With the loss of Lionel and her resources, Maintaining the Committee will prove difficult, but I know that together you and I can prevail. My physicians have warned me about overworking myself again, and so I have made some changes to help quell their incessant pleas. These are all management changes, and do not affect the purpose or basic function of the Committee.

I have also taken the liberty of scheduling the next BAC meeting. It will be held Monday, April 23 at 9 PM CST. I hope that you will attend and help get us back on our feet.

Thank you.

There is more information regarding the BAC changes at their Official Web Site

Delucia gets Government
Submitted Monday, April 16, 2001 - 12:21:15 PM by Nick Seafort

Nick SeafortThis from GreyMalkyn:

Standing on his Ostard, Greymalkyn surveyed along the hilltop to the city below through his spyglass. To the west, Shepherds and their livestock grazed along the rich grassland of the meadow, while to the east, miners and warriors wandered along the ore rich mountains. The Guards paced along the walls, keeping their vigil from the enemies that lied in wait from beyond.

Laying his spyglass aside, the old guard replaced the item with a roll of parchement from his saddlebag. There he unrolled the thick lambskin scroll and read the words written upon it:

Sir GreyMalkyn,

Recent events in the city of Delucia have given us great concern. Orc raids on our shepherds and miners have scared off most of our hired workers, and killed many of their livestock. Other attacks have resulted in the death of many a brave villager or even a valiant warrior or two. This has caused recent trade from Delucia to the old Brittania to slow to a trickle.
We have heard of your recent exploits in the city of Trinsic, and respect your valiant efforts to uphold law and order in the city so recently in turmoil from political strife. We also regret hearing of your recent resignation of said guard out of disgust of the new regime, and show compassion for your soiled honor.
Therefore, we wish to offer you a job. You will be given Governorship of the city of Delucia and be allowed to do whatever you feel necessary, within reason, to restore peace in this frontier city. To assist you in this endeavor, Basil Stag Hare, whose father was a noble and a friend of our house, has offered his guild, Bregan D'aerth (B-D) to relieve the weakened royal militia there. Basil is an honorable man, and will share in your authority and governing of this city.
All we ask is that you maintain the supply lines to and from the city, to ensure that trade and commerce remains stead, and that the citizenry are safe and secured as they serve the people of Sosaria.

Sincerely,

Marquis Tomas Alahanz
of the noble house of Alahanz, Vesper

GreyMalkyn crumpled up the scroll in his hand and plunged it back into his saddlebag. Virtues curse me for a fool, He thought to himself as he stared down the hill to the city below. He took the job for the chance to make money, but instead, found that the money would be nothing compared to the horrendous job of keeping the peace in this backwater hunk of mud they called a city...he felt like such a fool for taking this job. Nevertheless, he was committed. His honor was at stake now, and he swore to his noble investors that he would do his best. He now wish he wasn't so honorable.

"Gold coin for your thoughts?" came a voice from behind. GreyMalkyn turned to see the chisled features of Basil Stag Hare, who came up beside him upon an ethereal ostard. Basil's smile gave the old guardsman a chill. B-D was known for being a guild of ill repute to most, and the only reason Basil came to assist Delucia was to keep a promise to the nobles of Vesper.

Turning back to watch the city, GreyMalkyn muttered, "This city is barely anything I'd call civilized."

"These people live hard." Basil said wisely, "I would sooner trust a dozen of these stout hearted villagers to a brigade of the King's finest order guard."

"All this to make sure a handful of strutting peacocks stay nice and fat back in Vesper." GreyMalkyn said in disgust.

"Those nobles also make sure that the citizenry remain well cared for, which is why we are here. Concern yourself not with the nobles, and work towards protecting these good people."

The Guard soaked up Basil's words as he pulled on the reins of his ostard. His job was to keep the peace in this town, and if that meant to make a few pompous nobles, he would do his job. With a snap of the reins, Greymalkyn's ostard bolted down the hill, towards the city of Delucia, and to another new adventure.

Bounty Hunters and Assassins
Submitted Tuesday, April 10, 2001 - 5:52:21 PM by Nick Seafort

Nick SeafortThis from Dublin (Dark Paladin B-D):

It was a dry wind, and the sun was setting beyond the mountains of this wide expanse. It was three days ago I had tracked my mark since the bounty was issued in Trinsic. The money offered for him would keep me very comfortable well into the next season.

I could understand why this particular bounty was in the top five. He was an assassin like myself, and very disciplined in the art. He took it just as seriously as I did. I was also at a disadvantage. Whist I was hunting him for coin, and he was hunting me for his life. Something about that always gives one the edge.

Without going into many details we fought even after I slew him. A slow paralyzing poison was in my veins and my only avenue was to ride hard to the shrine of Sacrifice. A prayer in homage and minutes later my blood was once again clean. But as I put distance between myself and the shrine I could make out a familiar face. That face belonged to Gwydion.

I stood there for a moment to be sure. He seemed to be roaming around lost in his thoughts without a care of what transpired around him. If he spotted me, he took no heed. I was weak, exhausted, and in no condition for confrontation. But my eyes, my senses, and training to be aware of one's surroundings swore that Gwydion walked Sorsoria again. With that I headed for Trinsic for rest.....

....and a bounty to collect on.

More news from Trinsic

Nick SeafortThis from Cattie Brie:

Bittersweet emotions filled the Ethereal Temple last night as the heart of the late Sewell was given to Ku Kullin, Lord of the Ether, and his wife Cattie Brie. Lord Caleb of BDA accompanied Calista of O$D, to deliver the beating heart. With the heart now in Ku Kullin's possession, the stage is set to rid Trinsic of the threat of the revenants of B-D for good. But this victory did not come without a price.

Late last night, Gwydion (having recovered from his service to FiRe and B-D with he help of Ku Kullin and Saimanius of OGD), gathered members of O$D, BDA, and KOB at the Paladin Shrine in Trinsic. Here he laid out his plan to recover Sewell's heart. The plan was simple: KoB and O$D would assault the Temple of the Black One, keeping them busy defending their home, while Gwydion, his love Calista of O$D, and several BDA members rode to the northern ruins on the Isle of Fire. This is where Gwydion had been told, by the Sisters of Enchantment, that he would find the hag who held Sewell's heart.

On horseback the brave warriors of KOB and O$D made their approach to the Temple of the Black One. Upon arrival they were attacked from the roof top by B-D members who chose to remain within the safety of the Temple walls, rather than face the wrath of these brave warriors. The battle raged on endlessly until a pigeon arrived notifying KOB and O$D that Gwydion had succeeded in his mission. The warriors pulled back and made their way to the Ethereal Temple.

Meanwhile, when Gwydion and his companions reached the ruins on the Isle of Fire, they were met by an old hag named Rianne Hellfire, who held the beating heart of Sewell in her hands. With a final "I love you" to Calista, and a warning to his friends from BDA not to interfere, Gwydion stepped forward, and gave his heart in exchange for Sewell's. The witch accepted the trade, killing Gwydion and taking his heart from his chest, and then tossing Sewell's heart to the ground. As Calista picked up the heart, Rianne disappeared in a flash of lightning.

Hearing rumors of a B-D intervention on their quest, the Drow warriors of BDA decided to accompany Calista to the Ethereal Temple. They were met at the Skara Brae moongate by members of B-D. Lord Caleb had expected an ambush and arrived on the scene to help dispatch the Cultists.

Immediately afterward, they arrived in Moonglow (Trammel) and headed toward the Ethereal Temple. With members of BDA standing watchfully outside the Temple, Lord Caleb and Calista presented the heart to Ku Kullin, who comforted Calista on her loss, promising Gwydion's return. Ku Kullin and Cattie Brie thanked all the brave warriors for their efforts as they retired to begin preparing the spell that would bind Sewell’s heart into FiRe’s being.

*a special thanks to Calibretto, Elthanas, Maximillian, and Cal of BDA.
Furie, Gil, Mystic Rose, Fermaldihyde, Vega, Sir Matthew, Delvia and Malis Farland of KOB.
Basil Stag Hare, Andrew Bishop, William, Daclin, Dark Widow, Raticker, Kandalor of B-D.
and to John jr, Odie, and Arielle of O$D.

Musical Chairs in Trinsic

Nick SeafortThis from Raven McAllister Jarrethson:

I write this to the news groups to let the citizens of Trinsic and those beyond the walls of city to know of the changes that have taken place this weekend.

I want to let everyone who has helped me as Mayor know that I greatly appreciate all their help especially Lady Tierra, Adhrel and Ku Kullin for helping run a government with all the troubles that have sprung forth. As most of you know I have never made it a secret that Iam not a politician but a Paladin and leader of a guild. So after 6 long Real life months I have choose to finally resign from the positon of Mayor. I have thought long and hard about this. This was not made lightly nor in a few days. My friends, family and guild have suffered because of my being Mayor and now I must go back to my duties which I put on hold for the sake of the city I call home.

I have contacted what is left of our cities government and asked then their views on this matter. That consited of Calisita of O$D , Kata of NoV, Ku Kullin the Minster of Defesne , Senator Ewoen and Deptuy Mayor TIerra. The rest were not reachable (Adhreal, Traid Sample). They have all agreed on one person. So as of Today April 8, 2001 the new Mayor will be Vail of O$D.

Vail comes highly recommonded and was a current Senator of the TTC. His back ground as a Knighted Former member of the TPG (Trinsic Paladin Guild) and his want to help the city along with his current membership into the the O$D make him more than quailfed for the positon. He has Chosen Calista of O$D as Deputy Mayor as Lady Tierra has resigned her postion upon my resignation.

I would hope all of you will welcome him as the new Mayor and help him to do an impossible job. I will be remaining on the council as an allied guild as I was in the past before I was thrust into the govenment. Warriors of Wind will always defend the city of Trinisc from the Evil that is around our lands.

Trouble in Lionel
Submitted Sunday, April 8, 2001 - 1:55:35 PM by Nick Seafort

Nick SeafortThe dukedom of Lionel, located on the Gariland Peninsula north of Dungeon Shame has seen some real troubles of recent days. Expert sources within the provisional government are proclaiming that Lionel is no more.

You may remember that some time ago, the Duke of Lionel, Marquis Alazraham had fallen ill with some form of heart condition. This seems to be the harbinger of doom for the small dukedom. To this day the Marquis lies in anguish at the healers in Lionel, vexed by something mysterious, but not magical. His guard does not allow visitors, but we spoke with his physician.

"The Marquis is a strong man, even at his extreme age. Some kind of affliction has gripped his heart, but we know not why or how." explains physician John Dooley. "We've been in contact with a variety of herbalists trying to find a remedy, but to no avail. A few nights ago, the Marquis' heart just entirely stopped! That gave us quite a fright! Fortunately, one of the Brotherhood of healers was there and was able to beat on his chest until his heart started again. For a moment there, it was most frightening moment of my life!"

While the Marquis spends his days in a bed, his Dukedom has fallen into a sad state of disrepair. Indeed, one can see why the provisional government considers the dukedom to be no more.

"Quite some time ago when I was a young man, it was Marquis Alazraham who mentioned the need for a police force to His Majesty Lord British. The Marquis also donated some Twenty-thousand gold for the establishment of the Royal Britannnian Kilted Police. In a way, he is the grandfather of BKP and myself." states Commissioner Alec DeLeon. "We've had no end of trouble since he was afflicted. One of his old political enemies on the Taxing council repossessed Lionel Keep for who knows whatever reason, The monsters continue to pour into Lionel, and her citizens have begun to move. It was all I could do to save the property contained within the keep, including the Marquis' prized kilt collection. Many of these activities have prevented me from fully performing my responsibilites to the citizens."

"The part that vexes me the most is that I am afraid to tell the Marquis for fear of his condition. I would hate to be the cause of death for one of my closest friends!"

Constable Arcus expressed his own thought on the situation, "Now I know I'm just a lumberjack and Alec probably knows better than I, but it just doesn't seem right, I tell you. A man's got a right to know about the goings on in his own lands. Besides, telling him might just give the old guy a reason to get back up and in the saddle!"

The Royal Britannian Kilted Police were based in the halls of Lionel Keep until this unfortunate repossession of the property. The members we've talked to don't exactly know what theyre going to do, but they know that they will manage somehow. Constable Vax Holser spoke to us briefly as he carried several crates on his head to a nearby ship:

"Aye, tis truly a sad say but me and the BKP, we seen worse. Sad thing 'bout the Marquis though.. he's a good man, he don't deserve whats happened to 'im. When the Marquis gots his estate in the first place, he says to us 'come and work with me in Lionel' and sos Sir.. that is 'Missioner Alec took im up on it. I thinks that if the Marquis survives, wherever BKP ends up, the Marquis will be welcome with us."

We tried to speak with the Taxing council about the repossession of Lionel Keep to no avail. They declined comment.

BNN - Lilibet at Large
Submitted Sunday, April 8, 2001 - 12:45:38 PM by Nick Seafort

Nick SeafortCara Newsman Mar 28 2001 7:19PM

Today I bring you an eyewitness story from one of our artist correspondents, Milos. Young Milos was commissioned to paint a picture of the ruins where the gatekeeper has been sighted and is believed to be the place where Lilibet will go to retrieve her sister. While there, Milos received a nasty surprise.

Milos: I was painting like I’d been paid to do. The whole area is fascinating and the webbing in the area makes it a challenge to capture the essence of the place. I did not expect to have anyone walk in on me though, and was surprised when I heard footsteps approaching.

Cara: Who and what did you see?

Milos: A woman, white of skin and dressed in red leathers. She walked over to the area where there are still some steps, pulled a dagger and cut her hand. Her blood dropped down onto the steps and I believe she was casting some kind of spell as well.

Cara: Did anything happen after she spilled her blood and incanted?

Milos: Oh yeah. This undead thing appeared and called itself the Gatekeeper. Made my blood turn to ice just watching from behind the broken wall.

Cara: Could you hear anything that was said?

Milos: Yes, the Gatekeeper asked in a hollow voice what homage was being brought. The woman handed him what looked like a heart. The Gatekeeper took it, licked it, and then tossed it back saying it was too sweet. The woman offered a second heart, which was also refused. The Gatekeeper claimed the second heart was too old and had already been chewed on. The woman asked the Gatekeeper to wait a moment and then headed off towards the mountain.

Cara: Did you stay to hear more or take the opportunity to leave at this point?

Milos: Well, I stayed. I wasn’t sure if that Gatekeeper was still around and I didn’t want to accidentally run into that woman and my picture wasn’t finished yet. I took the time while she was gone to finish up the drawing.

Cara: Did the woman return?

Milos: Yes, after only about five minutes or so. She was in a fancy dress now with a floppy hat, but it was definitely the same woman. She had two paladins with her, both looked dazed. The Gatekeeper appeared again and said “This will do.” At his words, what looked like a hundred undead spewed forth from a gateway and dragged the two paladins inside. He then said that he’d send word to Selmatet to release the woman’s sister. The woman argued that she wanted her sister now, but the Gatekeeper said that Selmatet did not trust her and that she would have to return on Friday an hour after sunset to claim her sister. He said it was her choice, but that no matter what she decided, he was keeping her gifts.

Cara: Thank you, Milos. Excellent artwork as well.

Milos: You’re welcome, ma’am.

What does this news mean to us? It is rumored that Iryn is the sister that Lilibet seeks to free, but others claim this is not the case. Anyone who would offer up two innocent souls for the release of another is suspect in my book. More than two, even, for she offered the hearts of two others as well. It is this reporter’s opinion that whatever Lilibet is up to, it cannot mean anything good for most of us.

May the Virtues be with you all.

BNN - Heroes & Legends Festival Brings Out The Best
Submitted Sunday, April 8, 2001 - 12:44:22 PM by Nick Seafort

Nick SeafortQuill McMartin Mar 26 2001 6:48PM

Jollier Fairgrounds, east of Skara Brae, held well over three hundred people during the course of the three night, two day Heroes & Legends festival. Citizens came from far and wide to enter games, gamble, and don complimentary festive party hats.

The myriad activities provided entertainment for the group. There was something for everyone, from tamers to warriors. Some amused themselves by tending bar or making use of the gaming tables. Games of chance were presented by representatives of the Cap and Dagger Casino. On Saturday and Sunday, there were groups of adventurers who braved the depths of the ancient wyrm's lair to collect his vast treasure.

One of the popular games of the weekend was Pann's Challenge. Teams of four would enter the arena and face off against creatures as formidable as dragons and ice fiends. Those who lived to tell the tale walked away bursting with pride.

A number of groups sponsored events. Mr. Jollier and the festival staff would like to thank: River's End, Treasure Hunters of Britannia, Riverveil, The UnRuled, The Noble Houses of Britannia, The Cap and Dagger Casino, and the Sisters of Enchantment for their contributions to making the festival a success.

River's End hosted three scavenger hunts, one each night of the festival. Each of these hunts had dozens of teams competing to be the first to solve each clue and return with the item. Winning teams received gold, a fireworks wand, a treasure map and other goodies. Scavenger hunt winners were:

Hunt I
Torrent, Joque, Lady Genie, Lord Zeke
Hunt II
Aryn, Astrid Nightwind, Lyndsey Flamefist
Hunt III
Blackheath, Mike the Tamer, Lord Zeke, Lady Frostbite.

A massive group turned out for Saturday's treasure hunt. Representatives of the Treasure Hunters of Britannia were on hand to lead the expeditions and were overwhelmed by the response. Giving the group their best efforts, they ensured that no one went home empty-handed.

Riverveil sponsored an Edible Artwork competition. Contestants were each given a small wooden chest and had one hour to artfully arrange edible and non-edible food items into an attractive meal or snack. Judges were hard-pressed to select winners from the amazing entries that were submitted. In the end, Lisa Valorite took home first honors, winning a personalized sash and a bank check for 10,000 gold pieces. Second place went to Miranda Aleana, and third to Ethereal.

The UnRuled's Iolo was Master of Ceremonies for the Storytelling contest. In the end, Mark Anthony was judged to be the winner, with second going to Ocelot and third to Kayla and Odessa, who performed a skit. Prizes varied from gold to fishing nets.

Richard Cypher, a Grandmaster Bowyer, provided the bows for the Best of the Butte tournament. Competition was fierce. The determination for the prize came down to the final arrow. Caprial hit the bull’s eye to claim the first prize of a sash and bow of vanquishing. Arcus, second place winner, received an archer set of valorite crafted by Lord Blake Steelarm, donated by Lady Shannon.

Zef of the NHB assisted Evie Vandergellen in hosting a competition for tamers, The Running of the Bulls. Speed taming was the tactic, with tamers racing to control the selection of bulls placed in the arena. Meg and Eleven went head to head in the final round, with Meg claiming the victor's sash for first place and Eleven the crook of power for second place.

The sinfully delightful Sisters of Enchantment participated as the enchanting hostesses of the contest for mages, Faster Caster. Pyrate proved to be the champion here, earning the first place prize. OneAdamTwelve and Karianna were second and third, respectively.

Unfortunately, the bardic competition, The Great Bard Off, had to be cancelled. Witnesses reported that there was interference from spectators that prevented the integrity of the contest.

The glowing reports about the festival show that it was a special time for everyone involved.
