    Patch Info - 4.0.2a
    Submitted Tuesday, February 24, 2004 - 7:18:53 PM by Branwen

    BranwenAccording to the patch info screen, we received the following update today.

    =======================================

    We released a client patch on Tuesday, February 24, which contains the following changes:

    Both the 2D and 3D Game Client

    Character Transfer system support

    Control+V will now “paste” copied text into the game client by default (including UNICODE text under some operating systems.)

    Updated copyright date displayed by client to '2004'

    Localization updates

    If patched correctly, your current version should now be 4.0.2a for both the 2D and 3D clients.

    =======================================

    I have been waiting for the copy & paste ability for a while, so that is good to see. However, be afraid of localization. Be very afraid.

    Ra'Dian Escapes Attempted Kidnapping
    Submitted Friday, February 20, 2004 - 12:15:36 PM by Jeremiah Cruz

    Jeremiah CruzAfter the debates for the seat of Chaos ended, a gate suddenly appeared and several Bloodrock Orcs poured out. They easily overwhelming Ra'Dian's one guard, leaving the Chancellor all but defenseless. Following the orcs were three mysteriously dressed men whose identities couldn't be recognized.

    Thankfully though, Ra'Dian was prepared for such an event. Before the men could get to him, Ra'Dian managed to open a gate and flee to Felucca. The men appeared to follow him through the gate, but Ra'Dian was found later at his house and appeared to be fine.

    Who the group was and their intentions for Ra'Dian are still not sure, but it is expected that it somehow had to do with the now missing Darian Flight.

    The rise in attempts on the Chancellor's life have risen since the escape of Darian Flight. Books accusing the High Council of corruption and inciting people to riot have begun appearing at the Vesper, Minoc, Yew, and Skara Brae banks. Men with dark robes have been seen passing these books out. Military forces are suggested to shackle these men immediately before pursueing any sort of questioning.

    People are suggested to be on the look out for any other strange activities.

    Why Bother Anymore?
    Submitted Friday, February 20, 2004 - 12:02:14 PM by Basil

    BasilI guess this is a serious question towards the community. If all you want is to engage in PvP, why roleplay at all? Is it because you are scared to engage with real PvP guilds like BC and FS! because they would loot your uber toys? What is it?

    Why can't we govern ourselves? Lets think about it folks, the people we boot from our guilds for being problem causers seem to float from one guild to another. Each leader seeming to think that they are going to be the one that will connect with the reject.

    Isn't it time we started doing something about this? For starters, how about we stop warring guilds like the 'Chaos Guard' who are in this for nothing but loot free fighting? How about the Shadows of the Council too while we are at it? These guilds are just filled with rejects from our own guilds that we booted out. Are we afraid to do this because we are afraid we too will lose members because they won't like not having the constant fighting?

    Alot of these people have no intent of roleplaying. They come up with some generic statement that some half brained three year old could come up with. Its like this...

    Q: Why are you in this town, sitting at this bank?

    A: Cause we are trying to take it over and ummm... well, because people like us here.

    Q: Well, isn't there more to a town than the bank?

    A: The bank is where we fight, there isn't anyone elsewhere.

    Q: Is that really roleplaying evil dudes?

    A: Yea dude, we kill the HG dudes all the time.

    Does that really sound like roleplaying? If it is, then I stand corrected and will step down off my soap box. Yet, if I am correct, why do we continue to let these types infest our community? It seems that alot of people think that the only way we can solve things now is the PvP.

    So I guess the question to ask is, does this community want to be a roleplaying community, or a loot free fighting community? Its time for us to decide, because like Jakob said before, this community is hitting a crossroads. There is alot of interest out there in both new and old people coming into this community to roleplay. If they come and find us just sitting at the banks fighting, them I'm gonna say that many will not find us interesting very long.

    Ra'Dian Fl'GithHail, Citizens of Britannia!

    Announcing the Seats of Order and Chaos! By unanimous vote of the High Council of Britannia, two additional voting seats have been added to the High Council in the form of the Seats of Order and Chaos, joining the Seat of Balance presently held by Councilor Phoenix to form the Advocates of Philosophy. The purpose of these two new seats are to bring back into the lands of Britannia an understanding of the philosophy of Order as it was created by Lord British, and the philosophy of Chaos as created by Lord Blackthorn before his fall from grace. Beyond serving the people of Britannia by bringing the voice of those who strongly support Order or Chaos to the Council, the Councilors who are elected to these two seats will also be responsible for educating the peoples of Britannia about these two philosophies, showing that there is more to these philosophies than simply carrying a symbolic shield or fighting in a war of opinion.
